Supporting Other Artists Instead

I HAVE BEEN A PROFESSIONAL PYROGRAPHER FOR A LONG TIME

Pyrography (1400 × 2097 px)If you’ve followed me for very long, you know that I’m not only a fiction author, but I’m also an artist.

In fact, I started burning art onto wood and leather, an art form known as pyrography, long before I began my adventure into writing fiction.

And I love my craft. I have had the honor of creating custom-burned pieces, surprisingly many of them memorial pieces, over the years. And those experiences have been a real joy and pleasure.

But I find that, as I’m preparing to publish Book Four in my fantasy series, it feels like I’m going in too many different directions with my focus. And I’m just tired of making handcrafted art for sale.

While I’m sure I will always create pyrography pieces for myself and as the occasional gift, I’m deciding I would rather shift my attention now to supporting other artists. There are so many talented women (and men) I’d prefer to promote now rather than marketing my own handicrafts.

WHO I’M SUPPORTING

Woman making basketsIn particular, I recently discovered an organization called TRADES of HOPE. This amazing business was started by a mother-daughter team who first learned about the needs of artist-women in other countries who have suffered due to circumstances beyond their control when adopting a child from a foreign orphanage in Haiti. TRADES of HOPE empowers these women by promoting and marketing their handcrafted items through their network of independent partners. Of course, I decided to jump on board to do what I can to help these ladies and their families. You can read more about this amazing project and why I’m supporting other artists in this way at my partner website: TRADES of HOPE.

JUST FOR FUN

Cute Christmas DecorationsIn addition to my book writing and promoting TRADES of HOPE, I still need to do something that’s Just For Fun! And for me, that something is Signature HomeStyles. As someone who LOVES home decor and making a house feel like a home, I immediately fell in love with this awesome home decor company! Especially with the Fall and Winter/holiday months just coming upon us, I can hardly contain myself over the SUPER CUTE and cozy pictures, candles, pillow covers, and more on offer by this business.

IT’S BEEN FUN, BUT IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE

I guess, along with our recent BIG MOVE from Oregon to Texas, I’m feeling it’s time for a change in other areas of my life, as well. So, I’m letting my custom pyrography business go. I’ll still keep my portfolio here on my website. And whenever I burn new pieces, I’ll still share them with you here. But for the time being, I’m ready to move on to other endeavors. I’m so grateful to all my clients and customers over the years. I hope you’ll continue to stay in touch and keep me posted on what is new and exciting in your life.

Keep an eye out for my posts about supporting other artists, both here and on my social media pages, of beautiful pieces from both TRADES of HOPE and Signature HomeStyles. There are so many beautiful and fun things to share!

Until next time.

I bid you peace,

Tracy
