The Kidnapping King – Book Two in My Fantasy Fiction Series

The Kidnapping King - Front Cover

The_Kidnapping_King_coverI’m making the final edits on The Kidnapping King – Book Two in my Jack and the Magic Hat Maker series. These touch-ups are the last bits needed before I upload the manuscript to my Amazon author account. The eBook will be auto-delivered to readers who purchased it on Pre-Sale.

The Kidnapping King continues the story I started writing in 2016, The Golden Telescope. I published that first book last year (2019) on December 22nd.

Some exciting changes have come with this second book! My publishing team is growing, and I’m thrilled to welcome Jennifer Rees, my editor extraordinaire, and the amazing Tara Lewis, my marketing guru, to my expanding talent team.

Jennifer – is a premiere Children’s Book Editor of award-winning and New York Times bestselling Picture Books, Middle-Grade, and Teen Fiction and Nonfiction, including Suzanne Collins’ unparalleled THE HUNGER GAMES series. With 15 years’ experience in the New York City book publishing industry, she made her home at Scholastic Press, a division of Scholastic, Inc., as a Senior Editor. She works with such acclaimed companies as Scholastic, National Geographic (she is the editor for the highly successful Explorer Academy series), and several top-notch literary agencies (she edits their authors’ manuscripts to prepare them for the submissions process.)

Tara – has more than twenty years of experience in the children’s book and magazine publishing. She managed a global department as a Director at Disney Publishing Worldwide for six years and managed teams at Scholastic Inc. for six years. She managed the paperback book marketing for the first three HARRY POTTER books, worked on The Lightning Thief (PERCY JACKSON and the OLYMPIANS, Book 1), and ARTEMIS FOWL – Books 1-4. She managed and executed the marketing plans and strategy for over 160 of the GOOSEBUMPS books. Other significant accounts include; Clifford The Big Red Dog, Scooby-Doo, Disney Princess, Pokemon, Powerpuff Girls, Marvel, Lego, Tinkerbell, Matchbox, Winnie the Pooh, and original fiction picture books and middle-grade and young adult books, and non-fiction material including Baby Einstein.

Jennifer and Tara join my awesome illustrator, Manny Aguiler of AVA Storyboards, and cover designer, Paul Palmer-Edwards.

Manny – has created graphics for brands such as; Mr. Clean Superbowl LI ad, Scholls, Quaker Oats, Amazon Alexa, 21st Century Army, Hershey’s, IKEA, Kool-Aid, Jurassic Doritos, Disney Channel Wii U, Seaworld, Mattel Hot Wheels, Toy Story Mattel, Monster High, Mattel DC Super Hero Girls, and more.

Paul – is an award-winning book designer with 18 years of experience. He has worked as a creative director/founder of a busy London-based book design agency. Paul has designed hundreds of books and book covers for publishers such as Thames & Hudson, Quintessence, Carlton Books, Octopus Publishing, The British Museum, Rockwool Publishers, Harper Collins, Kyle Books, Ivy Press, Mitchell Beazley, Ilex Publishing, Omnibus Press, Rotovision, Hamlyn, Quercus, Sterling Publishing, Chronicle Publishing, and Abrams Press, on a range of subjects as diverse as architecture, music, fine art, antiquities, cookery, popular culture, and science.

With this fantastic team of talented artists and publishing professionals on board, I’m enthusiastic to see how The Kidnapping King is received. I hope to see this fun series shared with lots of readers who thrive on books filled with magic, time-travel, mystery, and adventure!

The Kidnapping King will be available for purchase on November 13th in eBook format. Paperback and hardcover editions will follow soon after.
