Paua Full

Paua Full RingThis is a powerful ring! The style is unisex…so could be worn by either a woman or a man. But it is not for the timid! This ring speaks self-confidence and respect. The style echoes back to ancient times and reminds us of something a king or queen or other noble would wear. Yet, the materials are also very contemporary.

Forged from heavy annealed steel base wire then wrapped in woven annealed steel, the shank is shaped to encompass the beautiful blue, silver, black, and teal opalescent Paua Shell that serves as the central focal point of the ring.

Fabulous either dressed down with jeans and a t-shirt or dressed up for an evening out on the town.

This one is truly a one-of-a-kind creation!

Comfortable size 7.5 but is adjustable to suit your hand.

Caged Innocence

Caged InnocenceThis beautiful, One-Of-A-Kind, milky-cream, caramel, and gray Jasper stone collected by a personal friend in the deserts of Arizona is encased in a hand-formed frame made from hammered annealed steel wire that has been buffed to a soft sheen. Then it was wrapped in a fine-gauge annealed steel wire to create an unusually captivating…simple in it’s beauty…but compelling in it’s energy and message…wearable piece of art. Approx. 2.25L x 1″W

Jasper is a dense, opaque, microcrystalline variety of Quartz. Fibrous and grainy varieties of Quartz are often grouped together and referred to as Chalcedony, though Jasper’s microcrystals are laid out in large, sugar-like grains rather than the fibrous layers of Chalcedony or Agate. It occurs in nodules or as fillings in fissures and may be found all over the world, in nearly every color. Jasper is colored by oxides of iron and known for its deep earthy tones of red, yellow, brown and green, sometimes in shades of blue or purple, and displays wonderful contrasts in its banding, inclusions, “pictures,” and small circular patterns.

Known as the “Supreme Nurturer,” Jasper is said to be a stone of grounding and stability, providing comfort and security, strength and healing. It may be helpful in sustaining and supporting through times of stress, and bring tranquility and wholeness. Jasper is said to provide protection and absorb negative energy. It may aid in balancing yin and yang. Jasper is said to clear electromagnetic and environmental pollution, including radiation. It may encourage honesty with one’s self and provide courage to assertively tackle problems. It may be an aid to quick-thinking and help promote organizational abilities. Jasper is said to stimulate the imagination and transforms ideas into action. It may also prolong sexual pleasure. Jasper is said to be a benefit for support during prolonged illness and may help re-energize the body.

Jasper is considered a good protection stone. In mystical healing lore, jasper is said to be good for the liver, gallbladder, and soothing to the stomach.

Through A Window Darkly

Through A Window DarklyThis beautiful, One-Of-A-Kind, smoky Chalcedony stone reminds me of peeking through a dark, Gothic cathedral window. What is going on inside between the shadows and the light? The translucence of Chalcedony lends well to a sense of the mystical and mysterious. The stone was collected by a personal friend in the deserts of Arizona and is encased in a hand-formed frame made from hammered annealed steel wire that has been buffed to a soft sheen. Then it was wrapped in fine-gauge annealed steel wire to create a captivating sense of intrigue and wonder. It is both eye-catching to look at as well as offering a sense of comfort and peace when handled by the wearer. Approx. 2.5L x 1.25″W

Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline form of silica, composed of very fine intergrowths of quartz and moganite. It has a waxy luster, and may be semitransparent or translucent and can assume a wide range of colors, but those most commonly seen are white to gray, grayish-blue or a shade of brown ranging from pale to nearly black.

Chalcedony is said to enhance: Emotional balance ♥ Vitality ♥ Stamina ♥ Endurance ♥ Energy ♥ Intensity ♥ Hardiness ♥ Nurturance ♥ Generosity ♥ Liveliness ♥ Kindness ♥ Charity ♥ Friendliness

It is (said to be) a nurturing stone that promotes sisterhood/brotherhood and good will. It absorbs negative energy and brings the mind, body, emotions, and spirit into harmony. This is a stone which instills feelings of benevolence and generosity. It alleviates hostility and transforms melancholy into joy. Eases self-doubt. Creates openness and enthusiasm. Absorbs and dissipates negative thoughts, emotions and bad dreams.

Chalcedony also (may) improve mineral assimilation and combat mineral buildup in the veins. It (may) reduce the effects of dementia and senility and increase physical energy. It has been said to help heal the eyes, gallbladder, bones, spleen, blood and circulatory system.

Precious Things Jumble Pendant

This very special pendant is in a style that I call my Jumble pendants. It’s a mish-mash of different items that together represent a wide variety of energies and passions. There are several semi-precious stone beads in the mix; carnelian, garnet, hematite, moonstone, jasper, amber, sunstone, leopard jasper, and then some other beads such as opalescent metallic glass, and pearl. It includes a metal spiral and a piece of black rubber tubing. All pulled together in a large teardrop copper frame and wrapped with antiqued copper wire. The necklace comes complete with a 24″ chain that is not handmade, but the clasp I also forged.

Lots of esoteric and energy-based representations all combined in this one-of-a-kind work of jewelry art! Self-worth inherent in the rich jewel tones of the garnet, carnelian, and onyx, inner warmth and love in the amber and jasper, depth of personal reflection in the metallic glass beads, a willingness to flex, bend, and stretch represented by the rubber tubing, and feelings of spiraling downward but rising above all of that negative energy represented by the navy (the blues?) metal spiral. All wrapped up in the natural magnetism and healing power of copper…properly aged 😉

The pendant itself measures 2.5″L x 1.25″W at the widest point.

This is a beautiful and original piece that will bless the wearer for years to come.

Weaving Jewelry– New Pieces This Week

Ugh! It’s my new goal to write one new jewelry blog post every week…and it’s now been two weeks since my last one! I swear, this is my biggest internet business downfall! Writing weekly blog posts and sending regular mailings out to my email lists! You know what they say “The money is in the list!” LOL! So, I guess that must tell you where my priorities are! Clearly I prefer actually pursuing my passions (making jewelry, doing tarot readings, coming up with new, healthy recipes, etc.) rather than working on writing about them! I hope you guys will help me with that by holding me accountable! ;)

This past week I have been working on a new wire weaving technique, and I really like it ALOT! I started out weaving jewelry utilizing one of my favorite weaves; the herringbone, and that was fun! But then I discovered some other wire weaving patterns that are totally ME! So, I’m going to go ahead and post photos of those below.

Something you may not have realized about online product marketing is that you either need to be willing to schedule (and pay for) professional photo shoots with an established photographer OR..if you’re like me, you just decide to buckle down and figure that part of the business on your own! You have NO IDEA how much effort goes into simply posting beautiful pictures of the work you actually prefer to do! LOL! So, I’ve also been practicing my professional photography skills this past week! Fortunately, my husband is really into audio/digital signal processing and recording (he’s a software designer and musician…go figure, right?), so I have access to all of his studio-grade gear; lighting, camera, etc, and that helps. But it’s still an amazing amount of work to get all of the camera & lighting settings, the props, display, and environment just right in order to end up with photos that really make your work SHINE!

I hope you enjoy the new pieces I’ve created weaving jewelry!

Remember that I offer custom design and FREE gift wrapping with any purchase! So, now is the time to place your personalized order for holiday giving!

(Click on the individual photos below to see a larger, up-close version.)

Until next WEEK!!! ;)

Be well,

Mangagement Rings

Tracy Partridge-Johnson - pyrography artist and handcrafted jewelry designerThe other day I was doing some research to find out what kind of jewelry people search Google for the most and was very surprised to find out that men’s rings, and any variation on that topic, was far and away the most popular piece of jewelry being searched on currently!

Rings, I was happy to discover, are way out and ahead of any other piece of jewelry being searched on, generally speaking, which pleased me because I really do have a preference for creating handcrafted, custom made rings. I’m not really sure what it is about making rings that I find so appealing…maybe it’s the never ending variety. Or perhaps it’s the fact that I can create one-of-a-kind pieces and have them completed, from start to finish, in pretty quick order. I don’t know…I’ve always been really fascinated with hands. Their grace and beauty. And what they represent; creation, artistic expression, touch…there is just so much wrapped up in hands and their adornment that appeals to me. So, I guess it’s only natural that I should be attracted to crafting rings.

Once I discovered that rings are the top piece of jewelry being searched for, I decided to dig down further to find out, specifically, what KIND of rings people are interested in. And that is when I was shocked to discover that men’s rings, not women’s rings, are the hot jewelry item of the moment. In fact, “rings for men” and “men rings” entered as a search term each come in at 1,000,000 searches per month! Compare that to women’s rings, which only come in at a measly 27,100! I KNOW, hu?

It was after doing this initial key word investigation that I began doing some further study into men’s rings. And I wandered upon a really cool, new trend that has been quite popular in Europe and Scandinavia for some time now, but which is just becoming trendy in the USA. MANGAGEMENT RINGS. That’s right. You read that correctly. Engagement rings for men! Too cool! Here’s an interesting article about the new trend by award winning journalist, Mary Schwager, in The Huffington Post that I’m sure you’ll find interesting and insightful! I know I did! According to Mary, Amanda Gizzi, spokesperson for the Jewelry INformation Center says  that “The idea that the man will also wear an engagement ring gives relationships a new sense of equality. It is a pre-commitment, a commitment from both the man and the woman.” Makes perfect sense to me! Mary further suggests that mangagement rings are also perfect for same-sex unions and engagements. Personally, I love the idea! In fact, I was so taken by this whole concept that it inspired me to try my hand at hand crafting a couple of mangagement rings myself!

So, here they are! The first two in what I hope to be a collection of custom made, men’s engagement rings!

Galvanized and Annealed Steel Mangagement Ring

Galvanized and Annealed Steel Mangagement Ring

The shank on this first ring is created from heavy gauge, annealed steel wire and wrapped with a fine gauge, galvanized steel. Wanting to go for something masculine, yet comfortable, I formed the focal design into a shape resembling a belt buckle. This unique ring is a size 12 and available gift-boxed and ready for your special man for just $199.00

Annealed Steel & Brass Men's Ring

Annealed Steel & Brass Men’s Ring

Next in my new collection is this beautiful men’s ring, again, with the shank formed from heavy gauge, annealed steel and polished to a high-shine. This ring, however, was inspired by a love for medieval elegance befitting a royal hand from days long past. So, I chose to weave it’s wrap in a light gauge brass. And again, it is hand buffed to a fine shine. The Swirls add a truly regal appearance to this special ring and the slightly thicker brass wrapping add enough weight to make this a more substantial ring than the ring above. This is an absolutely delicious ring to wear and is available in a size 8, for that special man who has a refined bone structure. Just $299 and will be gift boxed ready for popping the question!

I would love to hear your thoughts on the whole idea of “Mangagement Rings”! Do you like the idea? Do you think it will catch on? Would you like to see me creating more designs along this line? I’d enjoy knowing your opinions on all of this!

In the meantime, I’m sure I will continue making new pieces to show you!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my site and read about what I’m up to!

Until next time,
